We would bet good money, that you’ve wondered what it would be like to fly. Up high above the ground, soaring through the air, and even better if the scenery below looks like something straight out of a postcard. Lucky for you, you don’t have to dream about it anymore, because we are making dreams come true.
While we can’t give you wings, we can however help you have an amazing flight overlooking the clear blue waters of the the Bavaro Coast.
What is parasailing?
Parasailing is a fun activity where a flyer is hoisted up into the air with special parachute type wing called a parasail. The flyer glides through the air, while being towed by a boat. The parasailer is usually about 400- 800 feet up in the sky! There is no steering or directing, the best part of parasailing is that you basically just sit back and enjoy the ride. While parasailing is a fun recreational activity, it has also been used as a training drill by both NASA and the Air Force, so there’s also that.
What can you expect on your parasailing excursion?
Usually the parasailing boat has a couple of people who are going to parasail, so everyone has to take turns. This is cool, cause it’ll give you a chance to work out some nerves if you don’t want to go first, but it also gives you a chance to cruise up and down the Bavaro coast, score!
When it’s your turn to fly, you will be fitted into the harness, you want to make sure that it feels snug and secure. You will be clipped into the winch and then the boat will begin to take off, slowly lifting you into the air. Your only job at this point is to sit back and take in the views. Below you will see the tops of reefs usually teeming with fish. There’s a dolphin pen and one with sharks and stingrays, and you might just get a glimpse!
Will I be safe?
Parasailing is not only one of the easiest and exciting activities you can do in Punta Cana, it’s also safe. With most activities of this nature there is always an element of risks, but most accidents tend to occur when operators don’t respect the proper safety standards. All the right pieces of the puzzle have to be in place to have a safe flight. Operators need to use the right equipment and make sure that it’s in great condition. Both clients and operator should trust their instinct when it comes to the weather, if there are doubts about the weather or the wind speed, it’s better to just delay for another time.
The time is now! Punta Cana is one of the best places to try parasailing because of the beautiful scenery, so take advantage and make sure to schedule a parasailing excursion on your Punta Cana vacation, you won't’ regret it.
